Gafftopsail catfish were named for the dorsal fin that rises from their back like a sail.  In some areas they are known as Sail Cat or Schooner-Rig catfish.  Mr. Caldwell has transformed this commonly found, but intriguing fish into a spectacular sculpture.   Formed entirely of stainless steel, the beautiful coloration is achieved by masterful application of heat.  Light reflects wonderfully off of the stainless steel, causing the color to change with changes in lighting or the viewer's perspective.   Each sculpture individually hand crafted, with no two being exactly alike.   Wall sculpture.
