This first example of custom work is by Bovano of Cheshire. It is a three-foot long modern art-deco metal sculpture rendered in copper and fused glass. Bovano has very broad capabilities to perform custom private or commercial projects, working in copper, brass, fused glass and steel.
To the right is a stainless steel metal wall sculpture by Gary Caldwell measuring five feet wide and nearly four feet tall. Gary is a master sculptor working exclusively in stainless steel. Over the years he has perfected techniques that allow him to achieve beautiful coloration by masterful application of heat. Light reflects wonderfully off of the stainless steel, causing the color to change with changes in lighting or the viewer's perspective.
Joel Bloomberg is an internationally recognized glass artist, whose Jellyfish lamps and chandeliers have enhanced the decors of private collectors, restaurants and hotels. Each of his creations is a unique, hand-crafted, museum-quality masterpiece.
Suat Gurtan has created stunning metal wall sculptures for over 25 years. Pictured right is his "September Tree", a wonderful flowing sculpture that was the basis of a major sculpture for an international religious organization measuring 12 feet wide by 8 feet high.
Ken Scott has spent decades perfecting proprietary techniques for the coloration of steel wall sculptures. Shown on the left is a wonderful mountain-lake scene covering over 6 feet of wall space. He has done numerous custom pieces, from private residences to large scale commercial projects.
Doug Hays has created some fabulous outdoor sculptures, ranging from the custom Heron fountain shown on the right to intriguing abstracts.
Tom Torrens has dedicated his career to 'Less is More' philosophy whereas the design elements of his work are reduced to their simplest, most direct and refined form. Tom is internationally known for his bells, gongs, fountains and architectural sculptures. Tom's influences and ideas are inspired by traditional architecture and artifacts of Oriental and Northwest American Indian cultures. Tom has done many custom sculptures for private residences and commercial projects.
Rob Harper creates fabulous abstract art from copper, employing silver smithing techniques, a variety of patinas and textures, and elegant designs
How much does it cost?
The costs depend on the magnitude of the project. If you request small changes to a production sculpture, the additional costs can run 10% to 30% of the price of the standard piece. If you request a major scale-up of a production piece, you can expect 2 to 4 times more expense, depending on the magnitude of the scale-up. A brand new piece can be much more expensive than an adaptation of an existing piece, because the artist must spend extra time designing the piece as well as determining how to best execute the design. These are very broad rules of thumb....each project is unique.
How long does it take?
The time involved is dependent on the complexity of the project and the artist's workload at the time the project is commissioned. The more time you can allow the artist, the better the results and the lower the cost. However, if your project has a short lead time, rest assured we will make every effort to meet your needs.
Can I return it?
Custom work, by its nature, is based upon your unique specifications. Because of this, custom work is not returnable. Yes, there is some risk involved that you may not like the finished product, but having said that, we can report to you that it is a very rare occasion that someone is not completely satisfied with the custom work they have ordered.
What if I want to make changes after work has started?
If you wish changes after work has commenced, we will provide a written estimate of the impact on cost and schedule for your approval. If you decide to cancel a project after work has commenced, you will be charged for work done up to the time of cancellation.
Do you provide installation services?
Generally, we do not provide installation services. Most custom work is relatively easy to install and can be done by a handyman. For more complex projects, it may be necessary to hire a local contractor.
