"Albuquerque
Morning" Perhaps you have had the good fortune to attend the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival. If so you were able to witness the Mass Ascension on a cool, clear Albuquerque morning, where hundreds of balloons lift off to create one of the world's most colorful displays of hot air ballooning. It is a sight to bring tears to one's eyes, as the lead balloon displays a large American flag to the strains of the Star Spangled Banner. This group of sculptures is dedicated to that wonderful experience. Although pictured in a horizontal plane, the sculptures can be arranged in any way that pleases the eye. The group consists of three sculptures: closer views can be seen by clicking on the below links: Left hand group This group of sculptures features very vivid colors, as well as a curved surface to mimic the appearance of the real thing. The process used by Bovano, called "enameling", is very difficult to achieve on a curved surface, but Bovano has developed a proprietary process to do just that. Click here for a side view showing the curvature of these sculptures Easily hung using built-in brackets and ordinary picture hangers. Fused glass over copper. Wall sculpture. The production of each Bovano creation requires hundreds of separate procedures. Click here to learn more about this process. |
