We have received many requests for Bovano sculptures that can be used outdoors.  In response, Bovano has developed a special weather-resistant coating that can be applied to nearly any Bovano sculpture.  The cost of the treatment is 10% of the regular price.   You can order the special coating by requesting the weather-resistant coating in the comments section of the Checkout Form or by letting us know when you place your order by phone.

Important Information Regarding Outdoor Sculptures

The fused glass portions of Bovano sculptures are virtually impervious to corrosion; it is the metal parts of the sculptures (the frame, branches, etc) that may show the effects of corrosion over time. For those customers wishing to display Bovano sculptures outdoors, Bovano applies a special UV resistant coating to the metal parts to improve resistance to the effects of outdoor exposure.

Some environments can be very corrosive to metals exposed to the elements, especially locations near the ocean that are subject to wind-borne salt spray, or locations subject to environmental contaminants, such as acid rain. We have seen mixed results with Bovano outdoor pieces. Some pieces have withstood outdoor exposure for years with no problems; others have shown the effects of corrosion in less than a year. It depends entirely on the location and the degree of exposure to direct sunlight, salt air, or environmental contaminants. Because of these factors, neither Bovano nor The Secret Cove can guarantee there will be no corrosion. Accordingly, The Secret Cove provides no warranty or guarantees with respect to tarnishing or corrosion or damage that may occur due to exposure to the elements.

If your location has exposure to wind-borne salt air or known environmental contaminants, we advise against using Bovano pieces outdoors.

A final word of caution: Be sure your outdoor Bovano sculptures are securely fastened to the wall. If the sculpture is blown off of the wall by wind, the fused glass on the sculpture most likely will crack when the sculpture strikes the ground.
